Question: The area of a sector of a circle is 308 cm², with the central angle measuring 45°. What is the radius of the circle?

Answer:

28 cm

Additional Information :

We use the formula for the area of a sector of a circle:

A=θ360×πr2A = \frac{\theta}{360^\circ} \times \pi r^2

where:

  • A=308A = 308 cm² (given area)
  • θ=45\theta = 45^\circ (central angle)
  • rr = radius (to be found)
  • π3.1416\pi \approx 3.1416

Substitute the given values

308=45360×πr2

Since 45360=18, we rewrite the equation as:

308=18×πr2r2=308×8πr2=24643.1416r2785

r785r28 cm

The radius of the circle is 28 cm.
